You Must Have a Dealer License In Your State!
This piece of information is conveniently left out of the get-rich-quick plans of buying and selling cars on eBay! In fact, even eBay tells sellers to check licensing requirements for their state! Note: If you are selling your personal car, a license is not required.
If you are going to sell cars as a business on the Internet you must have a dealer's license in your state. Why? The Internet is not a "place". You don't sell "on" the Internet. The Internet is just a marketing tool like a newspaper or magazine. You are in a "place" and your state requires your "place" to be licensed no matter what marketing tools you use; i.e. newspapers, signs, flyers, the Internet, etc.
It is a violation of your state's laws if you sell cars for profit without a license! It doesn't matter where the buyer is in another state, you are selling cars from your state! i just want to obtain a license so i can go to the used car dealer autions on a small scale. i'm not looking for a lot and etc. does your book explain to me how to get a dealer license this way? i know a guy who has his license, but he has no lot.
