For the wholesale items, you may have already figured out that there's one special trick that seller's use on ebay! They make their money off the shipping & handling! You've seen the ads all over ebay! "Free Software", "Polo Watches For 1 Cent", "Ginsu Knives For A Penny". But of course the S&H may be anywhere from $4.95 to $7.95... If they can sell 100 or more items for free, 1 cent, $1.00 or whatever, you know they are making money! They drop their items in a bubble wrap envelope, go to the post office and find the cheapest way to ship. Sellers have been doing this for years and the public just eats it up!
If a seller has a really hot item, another strategy may be used. Take a look at some of the ads on ebay. A seller may run a dutch auction and say 100 items are available. On some of these items, you may see much more than 100 bids. If the number of bidders exceeds the number of items available, the 100 available are going to go to the highest bidders. Some of the bids these bidder's place, are much more than what the item is even worth! So - the seller is making a bundle of money on the item, as well as the shipping & handling charges!
