Wilderness survival has been a passion of mine since I was a young boy scout. As I grew older, I was fortunate to be able to study survival and first aid as part of my university studies. Several years later I was to become lost in the Amazon jungle on two different occasions. My survival skills came in very handy and were a great comfort to me until I was able to get myself reoriented and back to my base camp. On another occasion I was involved in a small plane crash in another extremely remote region of the Amazon jungle. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and we were rescued after only 3 days and nights of being stranded. Had the rescue not come, I was fully prepared to launch a stable, bamboo raft and float back to civilization. At the time of rescue, my stomach was full of delicious caiman and piranha meat, cooked to perfection. I was not in the least bit concerned for my life.
In this day and age of widespread natural disasters and terrorism, you don't even need to be a Boy Scout or explorer for this information to be potentially life saving! Dozens of Hurricane Katrina victims could have survived had they been masters of the information in this Wilderness Survival manual. Unexpected survival emergencies have occurred in my life on several occasions and could occur in your life at virtually any moment. You need to be prepared!
