Earlier this year, after another hard day's work, I found myself sitting at my computer, once again realizing that countless hours of working from home was NOT paying off. With three small children under the age of four, working at home has always been and continues to be ideal and very rewarding! So, since I knew working from home was the best investment for myself and my family, I couldn't give it up; I just had to find a better way.
That's when I began to look over some of the awesome Squidoo lenses that I had created during my quest to become a Giant Squid. I also looked at the lenses of others, and realized that most lens profits were being made from affiliate sales and not the Adsense revenue sharing that Squidoo offers. While the revenue sharing program in place is very generous, it's just too difficult for most users to create and maintain enough lenses in the top tier to make any REAL money.
Most of us aren't even close.
As the creator of The 60 Day Squidoo Challenge, my goal was to become a Giant Squid and turn my Squidoo efforts into a supplementary income stream at the same time. The kind of income stream I need as a busy mom with various interests would require:
- NO advertising costs
- NO overhead
- NO complicated marketing schemes
- NO time consuming maintenance
However, I soon learned that this was easier said than done. Even expert lensmasters with great lenses promote them, as they should. Online marketing usually requires a LOT of work and investment on the part of the marketer.
