What's Happened to Halloween?

Allhallows eve has become as commercialised as Christmas. The traditional carven pumpkins which were conspicuously placed at the front of homes are now over shady with outdoor lighting and decorations. The (NFR) National Retail Federation (www.retailindustry.about.com) estimates consumers wish spend 3.29 billion dollars on Allhallows eve items. Every major industry is targeting consumers with products travel from candy to house décor. NRF estimates that consumers wish spend $840 million in decorations, ranking Allhallows eve 2nd in seasonal house décor spending. Costumes are no exception as sales continually increase each year.

Have we lost the true spirit of Halloween? Remember once your parents helped you create a costume. It was a great family work that gave way to lasting memories. A time once parents and children worked together, creating the better Mummy, Soldier, or Lamia costume. Now it about seems like an ancient art. Really rarely do you so see a child wearing a “home made” costume.

With most families having two working parents, it has become much convenient, to purchase a pre-fab costume. Is the cost worth the convenience? On average costumes range from $25.00 or higher in cost and are worn about 2- 4 hours. Would-be you purchase article of clothing for your child and then discard it after a few hours of use? Most of us would-be not. So why then are we inclined to do so for a Allhallows eve costume?

Effective marketing has with success attracted the attention of children who influence the buying decision of parents. Millions children wish go trick or treating this holiday wearing the latest Allhallows eve fashion and accessories, but not galore wish stand out in a crowd.

In the past you ne'er knew what to expect once you answered your door on Allhallows eve night. What creative costume would-be stand before you? Simply open a magazine or go to the mall and you’ll have a pretty nice idea of what you’ll see before you even as buy the candy.

If you would-be like to get back to the true fun of Halloween, devising a costume can be easier than you think. Boxes are great items to use once devising a costume. You can do robots, gift boxes, jack– in-the-boxes, and galore others costumes out of a box and another easily available items. It is in-expensive and fun once you do and costume with your kids.

Even as adults we still reflect back on the great costumes we ready-made with our parents. We laugh just about several of the costumes we wore, but it is always a fantastic memory. Create a lasting Allhallows eve memory with your kids by devising a costume together.
