This morning, after my adult female and I walked the dog, we took several time to look at the flowers in our garden. The morning was still cool, but we knew that the temperature was already ascension and would-be be somewhere in the 90s today.
Some yellow daisies wherever
swaying gently in the light breeze, as if to say, “look at me. Here I am.” Wherever
they trying to catch my attention, or the attention of honey bees and butterflies? Tho'
God ready-made the flowers for us to enjoy, I suspect that they are more interested in attracting the attention of the insects that wish help spread their pollen. The flowers need to attract the attention of the insects to survive.
Internet marketers that have their own website are more like the flowers. They must attract the attention of potential visitors and provoke them to visit the web site. If no visitors move then the site wish eventually die.
How to attract visitors to a site is what the really broad subject of Cyberspace marketing is about. Many
articles and books have been written and are accessible simply about Cyberspace marketing. Let’s simply look at one small part of it today.
As you watch the honey bees and the butterflies on the flowers you notice that they stay on one flower for a while, then go on to another for a while. Sometimes they stay on a flower for a really short time and former they stay for a fairly long time. Sometimes they move back to the innovational flower and sometimes they do not.
The folk that visit our web sites act more the same. Several times they simply take a quick glance and click to another site. Sometimes they stay longer and look around. It all depends on how engrossing your site is. Makes it have a nice headline that captures their interest and does them want to get more information? A nice headline is probably the most important single item on your website. Take time to create a nice headline.
Is the site simple to view? A site should not have text written on a background with a design. It is too hard to see and often the viewer wish click away instead of trying to see it.
Is it easy to read? If there is not enough contrast between the background color and the text color then it could be hard to read. Whenever I see a site with black letters on a dark color background I leave immediately. So do a lot of different visitors.
Does the site take too long to load? Many a folk have really little patience these days. If the site is slow to load they get tired of waiting and go to a several site.
Does your site have music? If it does be sure the music is appropriate for the type of traveller
that you are trying to appeal to.
Ok, you’ve done things right and the traveller
stays about long enough to get on the far side
your headline. How long wish you be able to support the visitor?
Is your site easy to navigate? Are the buttons easy to find and understand? If the traveller
gets confused he can get frustrated. If he gets disappointed he is really likely to leave in favor of a new site.
Does your site have a benefits list? Most folk are looking at your site because they want something. If a quick see of your site fails to show them that you can provide what they want then they are out of there. This is wherever
a strong benefits list is important. If they see their ‘want’ in a benefits list they wish see on for more details.
Everyone loves a story. Folk start reading a story and support reading until the story is finished. If you visitors start reading a story on your site they wish likely see the rest of the site.
The links on you site can help you or ruin you. If you link to another site be sure that the link opens the site in a new window. This is a must. If the connected site opens in the same window you have simply lost a potential customer. Now the only way he can move back is by striking the back button. Wish he do it?
Now back to the flowers and the bees and the butterflies. Lets talk simply about the bees and butterflies that move back. Why did they move back? With the flower it was probably simply luck. With your web site it necessarily to be more much then luck. You have to plan it. They have to want to move back for thing
of value (to them at least) that you have on your site.
What brought them back was the content. Several how they did not discover everything on the 1st (or previous) visit or they wanted to re-read it. Or mayhap they realize that the content may have changed and they can get new information. Or mayhap your site offers a service that they want to use once more and (hopefully) again.
I call a web site that keeps the visitors coming back a sticky web site. It involves extra activity to do a sticky web site. However, if your goal is to have your potential customers coming back often then the extra activity is worth it.
Some of the better items to do a website sticky is a free service or free content. Examples of services could be a search engine submission service, a forum, current news display, or several kind of game. A service can be all but thing
that a traveller
can use or view over and over.
Content can be similar to a service. An article directory can be content. Maybe you write articles for you ezine. Post them on your website. Let your visitors cognize that they are free to use as long as they don’t change them and they include the resource box. If being uses they article you could get another link back to your site.
Other examples of content could be free code of ebooks. Several folk offer free vacation certificates. A free course can as well be several fantabulous sticky content. Book reviews could as well work. A weekly survey can as well be a nice way to bring certain visitors back every week.
Change your site often, at least monthly. Weekly changes are better. Folk wish cognize that you are actively managing your site and that you want to provide a nice service. This wish help create a positive impression and turn visitors into customers.
Most folk do not buy or join the 1st time they view a web site. Sometimes they move back several times before surrendering the money for that which your site offers. This is the main reason why you want a sticky site.
If you can with success
do your site sticky enough to bring your visitors back to your site repeatedly, you're secure success. Simply support conveyance the visitors to your site, and then back again, as the flowers do with the bees and the butterflies.
