I know how frustrated you must be right now. The problem was that they had only just recovered from the last yeast infection! That trip to the vets, which the dogs hate incidentally, cost me just shy of $250.00... $250.00?? And it's back within a month! Was I going to have to start having a dog yeast infection fund added to my already too high monthly outgoings?!

So yet again, as the dogs rubbed their ears over anything that helped them, I called the vets and made the appointment. I had to wait a day, or should I say, poor old Blue and Bailey had to wait a day.

After they'd been to the vets, I was another $250.00 down, the dogs had been sick in the car and they were about to have they're second dose of antibiotics in three months. They were miserable. So was I. I began reading up on the effects of antibiotics, it wasn't promising.

Now, we're all aware of the long term affects of antibiotics on the human body, but what about our dogs? I'm not sure you realized this but antibiotics are in fact far worse, in fact dangerous, for dogs than they are for us.

The problem is that the antibiotics kill the yeast as well as any good bacteria your dog needs for survival. This has a dangerous two fold effect. Firstly the dog is more susceptible to further infections, the antibiotics are just a quick fix and secondly you are putting the dog in danger of infection by killing off the good bacteria they need.
