The quality of a training course is effected by the quality of the training manuals, the stability of the application, the facilities, the quality of teaching delivered by the trainer, the skill levels of the students and the attitude of the students towards the training course and the application.
Of these, the quality of the training manuals is one of the most important factors. High quality training manuals will counteract any negative effect the other factors might have, while poor quality manuals will tend to enhance it.
Nothing is more effective than hands on exercises to teach students how to use an application. This is valid for anything from a simple text editor, to an advanced ERP system. A trainer can explain all he or she wants, but until the students have actually had some hands on experience, they will not be comfortable when it comes to using any application. The learning curve can be substantially shortened by effective exercises.
This booklet gives courseware developers a few easy to apply guidelines that will help them substantially improve the quality and effectiveness of the training materials they develop.
