The painter spent much of his short adult life in the artistic quarters of Paris - especially around Pigalle and Montmartre..., as well as frequenting the most famous cabarets, theatres, bars, circuses and brothels of the day - including many that still exist, such as the Moulin Rouge and the Folies Bergères.
Each landmark location is illustrated here with biographical anecdotes and contemporary photographs. The book also contains many period prints, postcards and photos, to help recapture the atmosphere of the place and time.
