In some way, Solomon Kane is a much darker character than Conan, Howard's most famous fantasy hero. Kane does not share the barbarian's careless and carefree vitality; he is driven by a darker force inside of him, and, different from Conan, he has an agenda: to "right all wrongs, protect all weaker things, avenge all crimes against right and justice." The world in which Kane's adventures are set is much closer to our own than Conan's, but it is equally filled with excitement, mystery and magic. This edition contains all nine completed stories, two major fragments, and four poems; it presents the un-bowdlerized original versions of Howard's texts.
