E-book Category: Health E-book Title: Secrets of Creativity Author: Simon Mitchell Book Description: Creativity is a bit like Pandora's Box - when you open yourself to it, you never know quite what will come out ! This is because the process of creativity involves using the unconscious mind - allowing leaps of intuition that can often solve problems very quickly. Creativity is an essential tool for managing change in the 21st Century.
Change is pretty much the only constant in this Universe. But even more than this - creativity is the single most important factor that will ensure our survival on this planet.
In the West we are using up resources as if we have 5 planets to exploit. We humans are incredibly wasteful, pumping the poisons we create into our own water and air, filling our food with pharmaceuticals. One thing becoming abundantly clear in the 21st century is that if we want a sustainable planet - we are going to have to get by on less. Many responsible people are already doing this voluntarily - by 'downsizing' or 'downshifting'.
One of the best uses of creativity involves coming up with new solutions to problems. Creative responses often 'change the game' completely by redefining the problem or seeing it in another light.
Here's an example: In Africa, a small village found water very deep in the ground and it was a hard pump or a long pull to get it up the well. They installed a childrens' play roundabout near the water source and rigged it to a pump that fills a large header tank with the water. Everybody wins - the village children have a play area and the villagers now have a pressure fed water supply.
Just one application of creativity - joining a 'free' energy supply with an energy need to improve resources. When our power sources are getting so expensive - it literally pays to conserve them.
Creativity also helps us with change at a personal level. It helps with changes in relationships with yourself, your loved ones, your community, your society, your planet. And when change is hotting up around us - creativity comes into its own as a desirable and utterly useful human trait.
Secrets of creativity and effective personal change are not taught in schools or colleges, unless you are very lucky. Creativity involves QUESTIONING WHAT IS and this is often an unattractive trait in most of our educational systems and our 'national slavery' to GDP and a materialistic way of relating to the world. Creativity involves thinking flexibly and thinking 'out of the box'. It often involves looking at things from another angle.
In todays changing world - creativity gives you the EDGE. Personal creativity gives you the ability to welcome change and turn it to your advantage. It gives you the power to see resources where nobody else can.
It gives you the personal power to TRANSMUTE seemingly unwanted changes happening around you into something favourable. A creative response can LET YOU OFF STRESS altogether.
That's right - things like potential FAILURE into VICTORY. PAIN and SADNESS into JOY and LAUGHTER. You come up smelling of roses every time ! You always seem to land on your feet !
Creativity is a most desirable trait that will help people to see you as a highly resourceful person - a leader.
