Face it, if you've played the game for any length of time, the swing you have now is the swing that will have to do the trick for you - unless you are going to change and put in a lot more time practicing some changes. And by practicing I do not mean pounding buckets of balls on the driving range, hoping that by some miracle you will find the perfect swing, I mean taking serious lessons and practising under supervision.

Make no mistake, I am a major fan of Tiger Woods - ever since I first read about himwhen he was 13 years old. I just do not believe he can teach the average golfer much. He plays a WAAYYY different game to us. And for us to try and copy his game, or some other pro's game, is a road to heartache and frustration.

Even the average golf pro cannot think like the average amateur golfer. They play the game at a different level and the things that will really help you play better golf are second nature to them, they do not even think about it.

I am not saying that they cannot give you the technical skills of the golf swing, etc. But that you can get from any golf book published the last 100 years. The technical stuff hasn't changed much over the years. And with all the books around we should all be pro's by now! But we're not. We are still struggling to break 100 or 90 or 80.

So where is the problem?

  • Obviously, we do not practice the basics enough.
  • Obviously, we do not go for intensive coaching.
  • Obviously, we do not have the time, or the inclination, to go through a major swing and game revamps.
  • Obviously, we are playing the game to enjoy it and not as a career.

  • I still play to a 13 handicap or better, shooting between 82 and 86 on par 72 courses over 6,500 yards in length, even when I've never played the course before.
  • I play more consistent, better golf than I've ever played.
  • I hit the ball sweeter, cleaner and longer than ever before. The other day I hit my drive, with a #2 Wood, 275 meters, that is 315 yards. Look I'm 51 years old, not too athletic and I used to hit my drive around 220 yards.
  • I putt less than 36 putts a round, normally around 32 or 33 putts.

All this with No Practice and not having played regular golf for over four years!

How do I do that?
