But Their Laughter Turned To Amazement When They Saw The Beautiful Patterns and Garments I Created!"
Dear Friend,
If you're a complete beginner and want to learn how to knit fast... if you can already knit some basic patterns but want to increase your skills... if you want to discover some new tricks to make knitting more fun... then this website was written just for you.
Here's the story..
They Laughed at Me
I've always been known as the "tom-boy" type.
So when I told all my girlfriends I wanted to learn how to knit... my friends thought it was kind of funny.
I mean, ever since I was a little girl-I was the one playing baseball and football with the boys.
Heck, I'm probably the last person my friends thought would want to learn how to knit.
Anyway, you can see why my friends thought I was not the person who would excel at knitting. I've always been somewhat artistic... but knitting? I'm certainly no grandmother yet... but I really wanted to learn!
Well, I decided. I would show them...
How I Became A Pro-Knitter
Okay, I'm not really a pro-knitter. But my friends all think I am. Here's why...
I really decided I was going to figure this knitting thing out...so I started studying.
I went to the crafts store and talked with all the ladies that worked there (a good place to start).
I called up my grandmother and asked her if she had any "beginner's tips" (she kind of thought it was funny too!)
I got some magazines, some books, and started reading a lot of web sites about knitting. Here's what I found out...
It's Easier Than You Think! Turns out knitting is not complicated once you know a few basics.
Some of the reasons are:
- It's cheap to get started
- There's only a few techniques you have to learn, the basics
- Everything is based on patterns, as long as you can follow directions-you can knit!
- If you mess up you can just go back and re-knit it again
- You can practice as much as you want - yarn is so cheap nowadays-you can practice all day for almost nothing
And you don't need to know a lot of technical stuff.
That's the big secret.
In fact, what I discovered was that there are only a few basics techniques you have to master (plus some insider short-cuts) and once you get those, it can make you TEN TIMES better as a knitter.
Here's the problem...
There's No Simple Guide
I searched and searched for a good simple guide to knitting.
You know, a booklet that was low on fluff and just tells me what I need to know about knitting.
I don't need a thousand patterns if I don't even know how to knit yet.
I just want to know...what are the basic tips that people who have been knitting for years know that would make my knitting skills better?
Just teach me those tips, was what I was thinking.
I couldn't find such a booklet.
So I compiled all my research, and had one created!
