When most people think of ab exercises, they think of sit-ups, crunches, side bends and leg lifts. This is shocking to me since these are the LEAST effective exercises to lose belly fat and develop six pack abs.
These exercises do nothing to increase your metabolism, burn stomach fat or stimulate fat burning hormones. Even worse, if done improperly, they can lead to poor posture and a THICKER WAIST! This is the exact opposite effect that we are going for!
The good news is that there are an elite group of exercises that carve out six pack abs while simultaneously melting away your body fat. I call these Turbo Ab Exercises. Don't worry if you have never seen them before (most people haven't).
I have pictures and descriptions of each and every one of them for you. You will develop a ripped set of six pack abs faster than you can imagine.
6 Pack Abs Mistake #2: Using Bodybuilding Methods!
Bodybuilders typically use exercises which are designed to isolate and train one muscle group at a time. The problem is that doing exercises that only isolate one muscle group is actually not the best way to get a ripped and strong set of abs.
Instead, you should integrate exercises that require the body to stabilize itself. When I made this revolutionary discovery, two great things happened for me:
First of all, because I was expending energy to stabilize my body during these exercises (rather than just relying on a machine to do the work), I was actually burning significantly more calories in my workout than traditional bodybuilders would.
And second, since the abdominal musculature is an extremely important stabilizer in the body, my abs were indirectly worked during almost every exercise I was performing. This improved my abdominal strength and development quite dramatically.
So now I was getting more ripped, and I had stronger (and more developed) abs than my bodybuilder counterparts.
6 Pack Abs Mistake #3: Doing Typical Cardio Workouts!
Trainers, coaches, and even bodybuilders all seem convinced that the best way to lose body fat is to perform long, boring cardio workouts. They couldn't be further from the truth.
Typical cardio doesn't burn a significant amount of fat during the workout. But even worse this type of cardio does nothing to elevate your metabolism throughout the day. In order to truly get lean, you need to perform activities that not only burn fat during your workout but keep your body burning fat long after your workout is over.
Over the years, I have experimented with every type of cardio workout. I tried different workout lengths, different numbers of sessions per week, different exercises, different intensities and every conceivable style of interval training.
I tried cardio before resistance training, after resistance training, during resistance training and first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
After years of trial and error, I finally discovered that...10-15 minutes of a specific type of cardio, just 3 times a week, will Dramatically increase how QUICKLY your body burns fat.
Now you can kiss those inefficient, hour-long treadmill sessions goodbye forever!!
6 Pack Abs Mistake #4: Following A Low-Carb Diet!
Several years ago, a well-known scientist released the conclusion of his life-long research that blew away every theory connecting dietary fat to fat-loss.
This guy showed that the real problem was... INSULIN. When you eat a lot of carbs, your blood sugar goes up... FAST.
Your insulin does whatever it takes to bring your blood sugar back to normal - so it starts sending all the EXCESS sugar to your fat cells for quick storage. Thus you end up with more FAT around your stomach and lower back!
Then this guy proved that by feeding your body a low-carb diet (LESS CARBS and MORE PROTEIN & FAT) -- you could actually "flip" on the fat-burning switch. In other words, with less carbs available for energy, your body would now burn more body fat for fuel.
Eating steak, eggs cooked in butter, cheese - It was all acceptable on this new diet! Sounds great right? Not so fast! If you've ever tried a low-carb diet, you know...
