The decline of any institution will inevitably lead to a garbling of its original message. Christianity is fortunate in that its Scripture was effectively canonized so early in its history that it remains beyond the reach of those who would neutralize its contents. But the interpretation of this Scripture is another story. Is it possible that the Bible has an important message to give us that we cannot receive because our understanding of the basics has been distorted by misled teachers?
There is a tantalizing hint in Holy Scripture that its New Testament writers had an understanding of the nature of the Trinity that went beyond our present knowledge. Perhaps the early Church fathers possessed that perspective of God as well, a perspective that may have been lost along with the initial purity of the Church as civilization descended into the dark ages and faith hardened into rigid, politically expedient dogma which subordinated the love of God toward mankind to a harsher, more controlling message.
The God-given institution of family is indeed more intimately linked with the intrinsic nature of the Holy Trinity itself than is suggested by our current Church dogma. An amazing array of intellectual adventures awaits those who in faith accept the Word of God and possesses the wisdom to differentiate truth.More... |
