I have had a surgeon show me an x-ray of my spine, pointing out a crushed disc, sometimes referred to as a burst disc and in the past, called a slipped disc. I don't believe discs can actually slip out. It would damage our spinal cord and we would never walk again. He pointed out that this disc was half the size of the others. Also that the vertebrae joints on either side had enlarged and roughened at the edges that faced the disc. This he explained is where the bones have been rubbing. Ouch. These edges were highlighted in white on the x-ray, where he explained the bone had thickened.

Well things did not look good. My Doctor was not much help. He did send me for physiotherapy. There I was told it was mainly wear and tear and would only get worse with time. The thought of something worse than being felled to all fours was not in the least comforting. I had to do something.

Well I did it. It took three months to notice the difference. This will depend on how bad your back is. A year later and I would not have known that I ever had a problem.
