"On Page Factors" (text on the page) is becoming less and less important to ranking high.

The major search engines are now interested in listing websites high which other sites have "voted for".

How do search engines count votes?

Simple -- by counting the links in.

And ... to complicate things even more: -

Not all links are created equal.

CNN linking to you is many, many times more valuable to your search engine ranking than some random link on some backwater website.
