Does making money dominate your lifestyle so much that you simply don't have any time or energy left for the things about which you are really passionate?
Do you wonder sometimes if you are doomed never to follow your true passions in life?
I know just how you feel because I too said 'yes' to all those questions for far too much of my life.
Then something - seemingly very insignificant at the time - happened that caused me to decide it was time to enjoy being the me I always wanted to be, express the passions that I loved and become the person I really wanted to be.
Boy, was I scared at first. I thought people would laugh at me and tell me to "grow up" or to "act my age".
But you know what? They didn't say those things. Quite the opposite. They said it was wonderful that I had taken charge of my life, how much better I looked and seemed. They asked me why I hadn't done it years ago.
I still have my problems of course but now I have the confidence and resilience to face difficulties with authority.
There has always been a really fantastic person inside you.
Packed with skills, passions, interests, talents and abilities just begging to be let loose. But we stuff it all down. We think success demands us to be somebody we aren't - a somebody others expect us to be. Let me tell you now it doesn't work.
The only way to achieve genuine success in life is to believe in yourself - the real you.
Let me tell you how that change came about. It didn't happen suddenly but there is no doubt about what caused the change in me.
It was just a few years ago when lots of bad things were happening in my life. My self esteem and self confidence were shot to ribbons. During this time I got asked to join a choir. I had always loved singing, but right then it was the last thing on my mind so I said no. They kept asking me and I kept saying no. Well, they finally wore me down and I reluctantly said yes.
At my first rehearsal, the first thing they said to me was "welcome!" That had a nice ring to it and I sure hadn't heard it for a while.
Soon after, the director said "hey Peter, you got a good voice!" I liked hearing that too. Then I got asked to be part of a quartet. This was getting to be pretty good stuff. I really started looking forward to Thursday evening rehearsals. I liked being with the people too. They were nice and we all shared a love of singing. Then came the big one..I got asked to sing a verse... solo . Me? A solo? Hell, why not. The result wasn't exactly Pavarotti but everyone said I sounded great. They could see a change coming over this once sad guy.
Choir rehearsals are darned hard work and you sleep well afterwards. But I was going home feeling great. The world seemed rosier - not just on Thursday nights but at work, home, everywhere. Good things started to happen in my life. It was like one of those rockets going around the world. You know..they get them going fast around the earth and then they sling them off on a new orbit. I was moving into a new life orbit. I guess I started to see life more positively and I was feeling good about myself.
Today I owe a huge amount to that decision to join the choir - and to the person who kept nagging at me to join. It pulled me out of the proverbial and got me going in a new and powerful direction in my life. Perhaps you need a little 'nagging' too?
My passion for singing was always there, it just got stuffed down for a while.
Perhaps singing isn't your thing but I know absolutely that your passions are always there, inside you. Unlocking them is like throwing a stone. It creates a ripple effect spreading through everything you do, everywhere you go... sometimes even helping people you meet.
I know that Enjoy Being You can help you get your life back on track. Try it...you'll love it.
