Here's How and Why I Can Make You This Promise As a new homeowner just a few years ago, I suddenly became responsible for replacing dozens of light bulbs that burned out far too frequently. I tried some of the new compact fluorescent bulbs, which were touted to last years longer than standard incandescent bulbs.
To my surprise, the first CFL I installed burned out within two weeks. The next one lasted only a day.
