A hard-hitting report published in 2004 by Fortune, an American business magazine and written by Cliff Leaf, himself a cancer survivor, suggests that for several reasons much of this funding and research is misdirected. He claims that despite a total of over $200 billion spent on cancer research since 1971 when Nixon 'declared war' on cancer - that mortality rates are basically unchanged.
What if he's right? What is much of this money is wasted? What if the research is misdirected? What if much of the work serves no real purpose beyond creating income for the globalised pharmaceutical industries?
Given the potential of new 'quantum' sciences, and other philosophies of medicine such as Chinese, Tibetan or Ayurvedic, herbalism, radionics, homeopathy and many others working together with medical science - the orthodox treatment of cancer is currently the equivalent of 'cracking a nut with a sledge hammer'.
Western scientific medicine is lagging behind Western physics - which shows us the universe is made of energy. There are a whole host of interested parties at work helping cancer and its treatment stay stuck in what are still medieval practices and that is despite the hard work and dedication of many health service professionals.
An integrated medicine that combines the best of science with the best of ancient and modern healing systems is still some way off. That is why it is essential that we protect ourselves at this time. Not only from the onslaught of toxins our bodies are unwittingly ingesting - but also from the massive conglomerates who seek to profit from our diseases.
