They were totally shocked, having a hard time believing the pro-quality photos I showed them were actually taken by me.
Dear Friend,
If you really want to learn about digital photography... if you already have a digital camera but do not understand how to use most of its features... if you're thinking about upgrading from the old fashioned "film" camera to a new digital camera but have no idea what kind of camera to buy... this site was intended just for you.
Here's how the story goes....
My Friends Laughed at Me
I have never been considered the "technical type," if you know what I mean.
So when Christmas came around and my wife got me my first digital camera, my friends thought it was pretty darn funny.
I mean, I am the kind of "non-technical" person who doesn't even know how to set the clock on the VCR, so it still blinks "12:00."
Geez, come to think of it...I am most likely the only person who actually still owns a VCR in the U.S.
Anyway, you can see where my friends were coming from when they thought I was definitely not the person who would be skillful with a digital camera. Needless to say, proficient in professional digital photography. I mean, I take average pictures with my old 35mm...but a digital camera? A camera I actually need to "boot up"?
Well, I decided that I was going to show them...
How I Turned Into A Digital Camera Professional
I admit, I am not exactly a digital camera professional. But my friends all think I am now. Here's why...
I took the initiative that I was going to figure this digital photography thing out and no one was going to stop me...so I started researching and studying.
I studied my digital camera's user manual (a good place to start).
I bought some magazines, some digital photography books, and started browsing a ton of websites about digital photography. I even took a digital photography course. Here's what I discovered...
It Is Much Easier Than You May Think!
Come to find out, professional digital photography is not as complex once you learn a few basics. In fact, it's way easier than "film photography".
Some of the reasons being:
- No costs for film. (With digital cameras, you take as many pictures as you want...they don't cost a thing!)
- No processing costs. No more making 2 trips to the developers.
- You can "fix" your pictures on your computer with software.
- You only print the pictures that you want.
- You can practice as much as you want - you can store as many pictures as you'd like now that there's cheap storage options.
And most importantly: you actually don't need to know a bunch of technical stuff.
That's the big secret about professional digital photography.
In fact, what I found out was that there are only a few basic fundamentals and methods that will make you TEN TIMES better as a digital photographer once you incorporate them.
Here's the problem in a nut shell...
There's No Simple Guide
I researched and tried to hunt down a good simple guide like a digital photography book.
You know, a digital photography course that didn't have filler and just gets to the point about exactly what I need to know about digital photography.
I didn't need (or want) to know all the technical elements, or read a college-level course on photographic art appreciation, etc.
I just wanted to know...what are the basic fundatmentals that professional digital photographers use that would greatly improve my photos?
I JUST want to learn those tips, was what I was telling myself.
I was unable to find such a digital photography book or course.
So what I was able to do was consolidate all of the research I had done, and created my own!
