Suddenly simple freedoms like walking up stairs, going down to the local shops, even sitting for any length of time can be more painful than you can bear.

It's frustrating not being able to do the things you use to do.
Knee pain is completely debilitating.

And here's the killer. The less exercise you can manage, the more weight you're putting on. The more weight you put on, and the more pain you feel. It's hard to remain cheerful and loving when you can't even walk to the kitchen for a drink of water without excruiciating pain.

We all take our knees for granted, I know I did.

Now I'm going to share my secrets for how to make your knee pain go away for good! How do I know they work?

I was on a scholarship studying modern dance in Utah, and had a promising career ahead of me when I was involved in a bad skiing accident. It was an horrendous fall, I didn't know which way was up, and by the time the rescue sled had reached me on the mountain, I was screaming in pain. I couldn't walk. It felt like my knees had been torn apart.

I couldn't walk, let alone dance!

I flew back home to Australia in a wheelchair, my dreams of a dance career were over. The doctors advised me that surgery was my only chance of walking properly again, I had no other option. Even then, due to the damage I had sustained, they couldn't promise me that my knees would function fully again.

Then things got even worse. I went in for preliminary exploratory surgery and when I awoke the following day, I was in more pain than ever before. I discovered that a knee specialist had used me as a demonstration model to the interns to show how the torn ligaments created instability in the knee joint. Without my permission, he had demonstrated this amazing mobility by yanking on my leg in all different directions to see how far they could bend and twist it. I remember thinking - "I don't believe I'm actually paying this medical professional to treat me so badly and put me in more pain!" I was furious.
I didn't go back. Instead I put all my energies into finding alternative remedies and I came across a unique, holistic exercise technique called "Pilates". For the next 10 weeks I followed the technique, building up my strength slowly until I was able to start walking on my own again. When I finally did return to the doctors they were amazed. I no longer needed surgery. I was overcome with relief. I had built the strength up so much that it was better than any surgery could achieve. I had rehabilitated myself!

I have been following this exercise program ever since, and over ten years ago I opened a clinic where I began teaching others the benefits of the exercise program, helping them relieve pain and regain their strength. I have personally witnessed the amazing results helping people with knee pain.

Last year I finally took the plunge and started going to dance classes again. Its been a fairly emotional journey, but I have enjoyed it so much, now I'm dancing at a professional level again - and I've never felt better!
