It's a problem faced by most writers in the beginning years. Often, even established writers need financial support and time so they, too, can complete projects.
Hi, I'm Jillian Coleman Wheeler.
When I was a kid, I always dreamed of being a writer. I made up stories and wrote them down. When I was upset, I scribbled it all out into a notebook. Every idea - all my hopes and dreams - turned into written words.
In school, I was the only kid in my class who didn't hate writing reports. I loved finding just the right words to explain things.
When I had a problem with a friend, or later on, with a significant other, I didn't always have the words to discuss things face to face. But I could always write a letter pouring out my thoughts and feelings.
Like all writers, my heartfelt desire was to make a living with my writing. I soon discovered, however, that was easier said than done. And while I was working on the Great American Novel, my kids still had wanted snacks, and new shoes. So, in the meantime, how could I get paid for writing?
