You are probably wondering why a woman who is in her mid thirties-seemingly very young by today's standards-is writing a book on retirement. As it turns out I too am a retiree and have been one for several years. When I was in my late twenties I got an unexpected early and honorable retirement from the military. As expected, it was a bit of a shock as I was unprepared and frightened. I took three years off to raise my daughter and write a romance novel and attend classes then I found a semi-retired job where I worked with fifty or so volunteer retirees. I also got six months of the year off and learned exactly what it felt like to be retired.
I learned a great deal about retirement and life during the "golden years" from these wonderful volunteers. I also learned about making the most of my free time during the six months of the year off. I wasted a lot of time in my first few winters off, but by my third I was really making progress. I am now a graduate of the Life Coaching Institute and a full time life coach with one focus being retirement. I am ready to come out of my early retirement and share with others what I have learned about my journey. Many of these tips I have learned from our volunteer retirees. Many I have learned on my own.
